Methodology & corrections
Every figure on this site comes from an official government source: a Secretary of State (or equivalent) fee schedule, filing form, FAQ page, state statute, or state tax agency page. Each state page lists the exact sources and the date we last checked them (October 16, 2026).
What we track
- LLC formation (Articles/Certificate) filing fee, standard online fee where online and paper differ
- Name, frequency and fee of the recurring annual or biennial report
- The due-date rule (fixed date, anniversary month, anniversary date, quarter)
- Flat statewide LLC taxes (e.g. California's $800 annual tax, Delaware's $400 annual LLC tax)
- Late penalties where the state publishes a flat amount
Our rule: no guessing
If we can't confirm a figure on an official source, we leave it blank and flag it rather than estimate. Currently 51 of 51 jurisdictions are fully verified.
What's not included
Registered agent fees, county or publication costs (e.g. New York, Nebraska, Arizona), business licenses other than Nevada's mandatory state license, and income-based taxes such as California's gross-receipts LLC fee or Tennessee's franchise & excise tax.
